POSITION Project Engineer LOCATIONS Hybrid - New York City, NY Hybrid - Woodcliff Lake, NJ OVERVIEW The Project Engineer applies a broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area. The Project Engineer is responsible for independently evaluating, selecting and adapting standard techniques, procedures, and criteria while working on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This role will perform structural and geotechnical engineering for marine and waterfront projects. Examples of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design of piers, wharves, and bulkheads including key components such as piles, pile caps, deck, fenders, and mooring bollards/cleats utilizing concrete, steel, timber and composites. Analyze existing structural capacity of deteriorated components to determine remaining capacities. Perform field inspection of existing structures. Perform berthing and mooring analyses. Prepare plans, designs, drawings, specifications, calculations and cost estimates. Work collaboratively with members of all company disciplines as well as external partners. Prepare engineering reports and other technical documents. Provide site visits during construction to ensure compliance with contract documents. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the technical design and engineering required to complete projects or portions of projects within the scope, schedule and budget. Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work; designs a complete project, system, component or process. Assists with the preparation of project scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments; Prepares complete project documents and designs, analyzes and interprets data, and solves technical problems. Assigns tasks to and directs engineers, technicians and administrative staff. Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs. Works collaboratively with internal and external partners on multidisciplinary design/engineering projects. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent, plus appropriate continuing education. Professional Engineering Registration. A minimum of five years of experience. Excellent analytical capability; strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to thrive in a team focused environment and engage in creative, critical thought; takes initiative and can function at a high level on multi-disciplinary teams.
