Position Summary: Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development & Alumni Engagement, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is a member of The College of New Jersey Advancement Division's development team. The incumbent is charged with working with academic leadership and faculty to raise funds from institutional donors to support identified School needs as well as the College's highest priority projects Main Responsibilities: The Director will be responsible for identifying institutional prospects and developing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for institutional donors. S/he will develop and submit proposals independently, drawing on the input and expertise of faculty and development colleagues. S/he will increase faculty and staff awareness of grant funding opportunities and assist them in the preparation of proposals and grant applications. Initiating opportunities for faculty, administrators and deans to interact with corporate and foundation prospects, the chosen candidate will also work closely with individual major gift officers to identify alumni, parents and friends who could be helpful with institution Uses sound experience and sophisticated writing skills in developing written proposals in support of institutional priorities. Maintains professional contacts with important funders and stays current with corporate and foundation funding trends. Work with academic leadership and faculty to raise funds from institutional donors to support identified School needs and priority project. Design, implements, and manages a comprehensive and proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing foundation and corporate relations. Demonstrated skill and experience with independent judgement and initiative. Required Qualifications: Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree preferred. Three to five years of progressive experience in development or equivalent experience in building relationships with corporations and foundations that have led to sponsorships and/or philanthropic support. Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of corporate and foundation fundraising in a college or comparable not-for-profit setting. Strong organizational and communication skills and a clear, concise writing style. History of success developing and managing relationships with campus administrators, volunteers and corporate and foundation prospects.
