Description For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local and national teams. In this role, your responsibilities will include developing instrumentation and controls designs (specifications, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs), and conducting control system startups for industrial and municipal projects and collaborating with client development teams with the goal of supporting proposal development. We are looking for candidates who have a proven track record of design, testing, and starting up industrial control systems for municipal water/wastewater work. The role requires the ability to integrate and apply Brown and Caldwell's service offerings and talent to help our clients solve their most challenging issues. Serve as an I&C Lead Engineer in stand-alone design projects and in support of multi-disciplinary design teams. Develop P&IDs, wiring schematics, and control system architecture design documents for industrial automation projects. Develop control strategies that are used as the basis for automation controls. Discipline management of PLC and HMI automation projects - including oversight of the modification, development, testing, and startup of the automation programming work. Perform submittal reviews from installation contractors, equipment vendors, and system integrator-developed automation programming, acting as the owner's advisor. Perform discipline engineering level services during construction (SDCs), including construction submittal review, responses to requests for information, and change order management. Work and communicate effectively with other disciplines, task leaders, project managers, and teams in local and remote (virtual) environments. Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums. Perform in a technical role for value engineering and QA/QC or review of sub-consultant work. Provide mentorship to local and remote staff within the Electrical and Process Automation Services (EPAS) group. Desired Skills and Experience B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant engineering degree for process automation control system work. PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred. 15+ years of experience as an instrumentation and control design engineer for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater projects, or private-sector clients in industries like pharmaceutical, chemical, food products, petrochemical, or pulp and paper. Strong preference for water and wastewater experience. Experience in design, testing, and startup of industrial process automation systems. Experience with industrial process control networking, including Fieldbus technologies. Experience with industrial control cybersecurity is a plus. Ability to work with Engineers/Designers in Revit/BIM environments along with AutoCAD or Bentley P&ID software. Solid Knowledge and understanding of electrical safety systems, NFPA 70E. Effective Oral and Written Communication Candidate should be a self-starter, results oriented and be able to work under pressured deadlines Travel away from the home office is anticipated from time to time given the nature of programming responsibilities. Anticipated Travel is 10% comfortable and effective with clients and contractors as direct interface. Salary Range :Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
