The University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) is seeking a Program Manager and non-tenure-track Lecturer for the Center for Public Safety and Justice (CPSJ). This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Director and senior program leaders overseeing the Master of Public Safety Program, National Criminal Justice Command College, FBI National Academy Partnership, and other CPSJ initiatives. The Program Manager will drive the growth and development of CPSJ by managing program operations, coordinating research initiatives, assisting with marketing and recruitment efforts, and supporting proposal development. This role will ensure the Center's success through strong organizational management, strategic stakeholder engagement, and values-driven support for faculty and staff. Additionally, the Program Manager may teach in CPSJ programs as a Lecturer (tenure-ineligible). Responsibilities include: Program Management and Support: Assist the Executive Director in managing and overseeing day-to-day operations of the CPSJ, ensuring smooth coordination across all public safety programs, including the Master of Public Safety (MPS), National Criminal Justice Command College (NCJCC), FBI National Academy (FBINA), and other initiatives. Develop and implement strategies to support the mission and objectives of the CPSJ, focusing on program expansion, partnerships, and alumni engagement. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan, execute, and evaluate CPSJ's educational programs, workshops, and research initiatives. Coordinate with SCPS communications team to coordinate marketing efforts for CPSJ activities, including managing website updates, newsletters, and social media platforms. Support the planning and execution of events (virtual and in person), conferences, and panels, ensuring alignment with CPSJ's goals and public safety community needs. Financial and Administrative Oversight: Manage the operational budget in collaboration with the Executive Director, ensuring alignment with financial goals and identifying funding opportunities. Assist in preparing grant proposals, fundraising efforts (in coordination with the Director of Development), and reports on program outcomes. Coordinates with appropriate teams to track program expenditures, monitor resource allocation, and ensure efficient use of funds. Research and Development: Assist the Executive Director in fostering research and fellowship opportunities by coordinating initiatives that promote applied research in public safety and justice. Support the development of new educational and training programs, especially those addressing emerging trends in public safety. Maintain relationships with faculty, advisory boards, and public safety professionals to enhance collaborative research efforts. Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with public safety leaders, practitioners, and academic partners to expand CPSJ's network and enhance program visibility. This may be done virtually or by attending key events. Engage with alumni, community organizations, and other key stakeholders to promote CPSJ's mission of advancing public trust and safety leadership. Assist in establishing partnerships with local, state, and national public safety agencies for joint initiatives and training programs. Instruction: Serve as a lecturer in various programs or courses as necessary. Develop materials to support training and educational initiatives. Administrative: Responsible for a wide variety of organizational matters which may evolve. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degreein a relevant field is required. Fouryears of relevant experience-Supporting and/or coordinating programs. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated success in ensuring effective and timely program implementation that meet schoolgoals. Ability towork collaboratively with faculty and staff, as well as colleagues, to drive successfuloutcomes. Ability to develop long-range goals and objectives while simultaneously managing a great deal of detail across multiple projects andtasks. Demonstrated fiscal management and budget planningskills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Awareness of, respect for, and adherence to University of Virginia and SCPS policies and procedures (e.g., accreditation requirements, SCPS internal requirements, University contractual requirements, etc.). Canvas, Zoom, MS Teams / Slack About the Position: The anticipated hiring for this position is $80,000.00 - 90,000.00 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, exempt level, benefited position operating during regular business hours, but with the occasional need to work outside traditional business hours to attend events, conferences, or industry gatherings. Flexibility exists to adjust your schedule while fulfilling duties and responsibilities.This position is fully remote with occasional requirements to support programs on Grounds, in Richmond, Quantico, Northern Virginia or other locations.
