Join us. Loyola University Chicago's University Marketing and Communication (UMC) team seeks an associate director, marketing communications in support of the Stritch School of Medicine. To learn more about the school, visit the Position: The associate director, marketing communications, reporting through UMC's senior director of school-based marketing communications with a direct responsibility to the dean of the Stritch School of Medicine, will strategically develop and execute marketing and communication plans designed to elevate the school's brand and reputation among prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and external audiences. In coordination with colleagues in UMC, Advancement (alumni and donor relations), and Stritch's Admissions Office, the associate director, marketing communications is responsible for the public presence of the school and the channels it uses to communicate with and engage target audiences. It is the responsibility of the associate director, marketing communications to deeply understand how the brand awareness and reputational needs of the Stritch School of Medicine and the vision of the dean can be served through integrated marketing-communications and content/brand storytelling in alignment with the University's brand and strategic direction. Priorities and work effort will be determined in coordination with the dean. Responsibilities: Strategically develop and execute integrated marketing communications plans and measurable goals designed to: Raise the reputation and awareness of the school and its programs Help engage prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and external audiences Align school marketing communications with the University brand Steward the brand of the school Meet regularly with the dean, attend school-wide and relevant staff meetings, and participate in the life of the school Strategize, develop, and implement dean communications, including strategic internal communication to faculty, staff, and students and other strategic executive communication Identify, create, and distribute compelling content across all communication channels to inform, inspire, and engage relevant audiences and move them to supportive actions Collaborate with Advancement (alumni and donor relations) and Stritch's Admissions Office by consulting on projects, helping source relevant content, and ensuring brand and school integrity across all messaging Provide strategic oversight and management for the school's digital channels, including social media and website As needed, support media relations, crisis communications, and project management for the school in collaboration with UMC staff Work collaboratively with leadership and colleagues including designers, photographers, videographers, and others, and respect discipline expertise Supervise the hiring and management of student workers and/or freelancers needed to support marketing communications plans Establish budgets in coordination with the school and UMC leadership Support the University's and the school's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals Other duties as assigned Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in communications, marketing, or related field and a minimum of five years of full-time experience in marketing communications, preferably in higher education or healthcare. Demonstrated experience creating a marketing communications strategy and executing an integrated marketing communications plan against measurable KPIs Exceptional written communication skills and a talent for digital storytelling that leads to engagement on multiple digital channels Understanding of media relations Basic design skills Demonstrated project and organizational management skills and a history of successfully delivering projects Experience in web content management systems and relevant design software is preferred Familiarity with healthcare, higher education, and/or ad agency models are a bonus High degree of professional discretion Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Bachelor's degree or master's degree in communications, marketing, or related field and a minimum of five years of full-time experience in marketing communications, preferably in higher education. Qualifications - Working knowledge of media and integrated marketing a must. - Ability to collaborate with various teams, including LUHS, advancement, UMC, special events, and program directors. - Ability to create and implement marketing plans that include budgets, timelines and metrics. - Superior verbal, written, communications planning skills required; solid command of various computer software and social media channels. - Comfortable working in a lean organization with limited direct reporting staff. - High ethical standards and integrity required. - Demonstrated project management skills. Certificates/Credentials/Licenses N/A Computer Skills Proficient or in solid command of in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Zoom, Internet and email applications. Solid command of various computer software, including content management systems. Working knowledge of social media channel deployment (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn), and Sprout Social or other social media management, distribution and monitoring or listening platforms Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
