As a Property Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter at Navigators Re, a brand of The Hartford, your primary role will be to underwrite within a collaborative and technical team, work closely with our broking partners, CAT modelling and actuarial teams while pursuing new business and handling assigned renewals. You'll analyze the portfolio for profitability and to ensure our aggregates and portfolio diversification remains within appetite. The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different levels depending on background and experience. Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday are designated as enterprise core days, when we expect most employees in hybrid work arrangements to come into the office. Responsibilities: Underwrite and price new and renewal business. Work within a team framework to support the overall goals of the unit. Acting as a trusted advisor to their Brokers; responds in a timely manner to build relationships and influence retention. Managing accounts on a book of business balance retention and profitability. Proposing and recommending structures to better service the needs of clients. Accountability for EPI and agreed aggregation thresholds. Review treaty contracts that govern our transactions, supported by our dedicated legal contract team. Establish and maintain a presence in the market with reinsurance brokers to create new business opportunities. Support the purchase of our Property Retro . Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in reinsurance underwriting and pricing, or other relevant experience. Strong technical, analytical and data skills; experience with Excel/other computation tools. Successful in working independently as well as part of a team. Self-motivation, creativity, time-management, project-management, and customer-management skills will be beneficial in this role. Solid underwriting experience coupled with strong statistical/modelling background. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to audiences of various levels and diverse technical backgrounds. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities. Process improvement mindset and skilled at developing efficiencies. CPCU, ARe, CAT Modelling, Actuarial or other related designations are a plus. Travel required. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $95,000 - $250,000 The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
