Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Huntington District Operations Division is actively seeking applications to fill multiple vacancies throughout the Big Sandy Region. Responsibilities Assist skilled trades or craftsmen by retrieving tools or materials. Assist higher-graded employees in removing, loading, unloading, and disposing brush. Prepare surfaces, priming, and painting various surfaces. Open and unpack cartons. Operate motorized government vehicles to transport supplies and/or materials to various locations through out the project. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. WG-03 Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): I have the ability to perform common maintenance procedures. I can load and unload vehicles. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical effort: The duties require light physical effort which involves exertion such as moderate lifting and carrying light objects weighing up to 50 pounds and walking, bending, stooping, standing and reaching. Working Conditions: Work may be outdoors, but usually not in bad weather. May be exposed to drafty, noisy, dusty, and dirty conditions. the work involves standing and walking on concrete floors and uneven terrain. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a(n) Installation Management Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment NTE 6 months. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 18 months. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Temporary Appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary Appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
