WW Engineering Standards is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineering leader to drive standards for material handling equipment and achieve unparalleled performance for our network of world-class delivery stations. This position will have an impact on both design and process design engineering for AMZL. This is a unique opportunity at a critical juncture in Amazon's growth to drive end to end product delivery. The successful Sr Industrial Engineer is an agile natural self-starter with the ability to keep relentlessly driving projects and various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization. You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team's scope is worldwide. Our decisions determine the performance, scalability and cost-effectiveness of new deployments and retrofits across the global AMZL network. Key job responsibilities • Own the design and development of engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges considering human/equipment interactions for the worldwide delivery station network • Improve, design and develop scalable, highly productive and efficient machines ready for large scale deployments • Lead and coordinate concept and design development efforts for optimal solutions for the through equipment specification, material flow, process design, safety, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and site layout • Work closely with vendors, suppliers and other teams to create solutions • Simultaneously manage multiple high-visibility projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners and vendors • Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects • Conduct post mortem on designs after implementation • Engage customers to identify areas of opportunity within the process and performance • Build strong relationships with partner organizations within the company, across business units and across countries • Conduct multi-disciplinary process improvement efforts to drive communication and performance • Technical writing skills for specification and technical document creation • Ability to travel up to 20% to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders (within NA but also internationally; particularly to EU and Japan) A day in the life Amazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include: Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage Maternity and Parental Leave Options Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) Plan Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Process Engineering or related STEM field is required • 8+ years of experience in Design/Innovation, Research & Development, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering, or related fields. • Experience in technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects • Experience with complex MHE and packaging lines or process design based on Lean Manufacturing • Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Emulate3D) • Experience leading engineering design projects and interacting with cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications • MBA, Master's Degree or other advanced degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering, Operations, Business Administration or related field and at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty • 3+ year experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing. • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD • Proficiency in Emulate3D • Proficiency in running SQL queries and data mining • Experience in engineering and estimating material handling and storage systems • Operations Management/ Fulfillment/Distribution Center experience preferred • Capital project management skills. • Proficiency with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making. • Design-in-Safety experience • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment • Ability to manage, influence, negotiate, and communicate with external business partners and internal teams to meet organizational capacity needs Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market.
