This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a n Assistant Resident Engineer for delivering Construction Services on Rail Infrastructure Projects in our Client's World Trade Center - office. Your Impact Provide assistance to PANYNJ Project Manager / or designee as directed Primarily supervising staff and managing the day-to-day activities as it relates to Engineering/Construction and administrative/financial matters. Construction Management and Supervisory Services on Projects include building type construction, rail, marine, dredging, concrete work, paving work, structural, maintenance of traffic, with some electrical, mechanical, environmental plumbing and finishes knowledge. Inspect and manage contractors field operations and direct contractors to resolve field deficiencies. The Assistant Resident Engineer will be required to have full knowledge and familiarity with contract documents. Ensure that construction work is performed in accordance with contract drawings, specifications and all applicable codes and standards. Ensure that construction is performed in a safe manner and completed on schedule Review and evaluate potential items of extra work, provide justification and cost estimate Comment on and approve quantities of work in place for payment applications in a timely fashion Complete daily narratives, daily labor reports for T&M work and controlled inspection reports accurately Schedule and conduct site inspections as required Attend progress meetings and final inspections and document meeting minutes Perform constructability reviews for future contracts, provide meaningful comments on drawings and specifications by specified dates Coordinate construction work with facility police, maintenance and operations to ensure that contracts are completed with minimum disruption to the facility. In addition, the RE will be responsible for managing 2-10 direct reports consisting of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Engineers and inspectors, and Office Engineer. The RE will be responsible for assuring all submittals, schedules, insurance, and other contract requirements are submitted and approved by the responsible stakeholders. The RE shall keep the Resident Engineer informed on all contract discrepancies and differing field conditions. The RE shall chair meetings with contractors, facility personnel, design consultants and other stakeholders. The RE shall be able to stand in for the Resident Engineer as needed. Perform additional duties as deemed necessary Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university. Minimum 7 years' experience inspecting construction work, varied in: Size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift). Identify and track additional work and prepare estimates. Review and respond to Requests for Information. Availability to stay late or come in early as needed. Night and weekend shifts may be required. Ability to pass a TWIC and/or SWAC Background Check at High Level. Valid Driver's License required. Trained in fall protection, scaffolding and ladders; permit required confined space; Work-zone Safety and minimum of 10 hr. OSHA construction safety training Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Familiarity with BOCA and Other Applicable Codes and Standards Competent in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel Familiarity with Primavera and Expedition/Contract Manager Proven ability to adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. This hire will be contingent upon client selection and successful background check. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer. ACI Concrete Special Inspector, Structural steel bolting inspector; and Work Zone Safety Certifications are desirable. This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $83,100 - $169500 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
