Position Summary This position performs administrative and supervisory work in the management and operation of the Recreation Center. The Recreation Center Manager is responsible for facility management and scheduling, coordinating varied recreational programs and services, preparing the annual budget, analysis of all expenses and revenues, purchasing requirements, developing a capital replacement plan, hiring, training and supervising staff. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities Supervises regular and seasonal facility staff including recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating employees- work. Plans and supports professional development activities for staff. Proactively resolves work-related problems or assists employees in solving problems. Initiates plans to motivate employees to achieve facility goals and evaluates results. Manages and coordinates the daily operation of the Recreation Center including the physical environment of the center, customer services, implementation of safety practices, development and enforcement of center rules and regulations, develops and enforces effective cash/EFT procedures and provides for a high-quality customer experience. Prepares and monitors the annual budget and replacement schedule for the center. Maintains control and accountability over cash receipts. Maintains participation statistics for the purpose of supporting long-range planning and budgeting. Prepares revenue/expenditure reports and recommends fees and charges to meet established revenue goals. Monitors the registration and facility reservation program. Evaluates activities through observation, direct contact and surveys of participants. Develops and coordinates a comprehensive program of recreational, social and human services based upon the identified needs of the facility and in concert with other efforts within the Parks and Recreation Department. Works collaboratively with outside groups for various programmatic, scheduling and staffing needs. Assists with the programming and marketing efforts for the center. Must be available during regular business hours or shifts to communicate with staff, supervisors, customers, vendors and other persons or organizations with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals. Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor-s degree in parks and recreation administration, public administration or related field; five years of experience in municipal parks and recreation or fitness industry with at least three years in a facility operational management capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid driver-s license and have satisfactory credit history. Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within six months of employment. Must complete required NIMS IS-100, IS-700 within three months and IS-200, IS-800 training within six months of employment. Desired: Master-s degree in parks and recreation administration, public administration or related field; Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification; experience operating a recreation facility. Environment and Physical Factors Work is performed in person in a busy Rec Center environment. This position requires the ability to walk or stand for extended periods; the ability to sit for prolonged periods; and visual acuity to review information and determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned. Compensation and Benefits Salary range is $64,828 to $76,312 depending on qualifications and directly related experience.
