POSITION SUMMARY: The Aquatics Coordinator works closely with the Aquatics Director to provide safe, engaging programs. There is a strong commitment to safety, as well as to creating innovative aquatic programs. The best candidate will have current lifeguard certifications and a willingness to be trained in YMCA swim lesson instruction. This position is a hands-on job with most hours spent lifeguarding and performing administrative tasks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and coordinate pool and staff schedules. Acts as a replacement or find replacements for schedule gaps for Lifeguards Assist with registration process. Obtain and maintain program supply inventory and disburse to instructors. Ensure staff have their certifications, tracking and maintaining the certifications for audit Complete administrative tasksgathering data, completing paperwork, filing Attend all staff meetings Assist with tracking of certifications Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation. Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills. Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds QUALIFICATIONS: 1 year of administrative experience 1 year of lifeguard experience Lifeguard Certification Great organizational skills Excellent computer skills Ability to interact with staff, participants, and parents Currently certified in CPR/AED and first aid, or be certified within 30 days of hire. Experience working in multi-cultural communities is preferred.
