PURPOSE: The Maintenance Tech C is considered entry level maintenance with a mechanical aptitude and ability to learn general maintenance at an excelled ability. This position conducts routine general/preventive maintenance such as line lubrication, adjustments, minor repair/replacement of worn belts, parts, or motors. Conducts routine building maintenance and may assist with sanitation duties, painting, and minor building repairs. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: High School degree required. Demonstrated experience in an environment that requires mechanical abilities. Certifications in welding, plumbing or maintenance/mechanical a strong plus. Must have an ability to be taught minor welding/soldering skills. Must have a mechanical aptitude to learn how to conduct routine repairs of machinery and processing equipment. Demonstrated ability to learn how to utilize a variety of hand and power tools, meters, and material handling equipment. Ability of operate a forklift a strong plus. Able to utilize various hardware/software formats and/or learn quickly how technology drives machinery. Must have a collaborative and team-oriented attitude. Must show a demonstrated desire to learn and grow with a deep understanding/appreciation of asking for direction and guidance. Ability to retain training and demonstrated techniques. Ability to be flexible and operate under stressful situations. Able to maintain Grimmway Farms confidential and proprietary information. Must operate in an ethical manner with high integrity at all times. Remote work not available for this position. Must be able to travel occasionally both local and out of the area depending on business need. Must have a valid drivers license with a clean DMV driving record. Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Operate as an entry level maintenance technician to maintain production and processing equipment and the building that they operate within. Works closely with the maintenance team to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines/motors, following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturers instructions, engineering specifications, and troubleshooting malfunctions. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production/processing and performs scheduled maintenance repairs to include preventive maintenance in order to keep machinery operating at peak times. Must maintain a mindset of controlling downtime by informing team members of maintenance of observed issues. Will assist maintenance team in layout of new, or rework of current lines and machinery during off-season. This to include teardown and restructure of equipment to gain efficiencies and smooth start-up for coming seasonal operations or utilization of building space for a variety of produce processing. Assist A and B Techs to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening/looking for problems, and utilization of various measuring and testing instruments. Take direction from maintenance team leadership to execute maintenance and preventative maintenance schedules. Keep track of inventory used to communicate restock of parts and supplies. Maintain a safe and clean work environment throughout all processing facilities. Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to occasionally move in food processing facilities and in the farming fields.Ability to work outdoors. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Operate hand and power tools, working on equipment that is elevated or low to the ground. Work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
