BluePearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh (North), PA is seeking a Specialty Service Head with a DVM/VMD and 2 years' experience as a board-certified Specialist. You will provide leadership and direction on day-to-day matters impacting the specialty service while supporting the hospital Medical Director and Operational Leaders ensuring medical quality in respective service. As a Specialty Service Head, you will: Directly supervises a team of specialty clinicians, facilitating service clinician and one-on-one meetings. Regularly works clinician shifts. Attends hospital leadership meetings. Partners with hospital leadership to identify opportunities and implement initiatives for improvement of medical quality, patient safety, workflow, interdepartmental communications and action plans, patient care, and operational decisions that impact medical care and quality. Actively contributes to clinician recruitment where applicable. Works closely with supervisors and managers to provide information regarding their service/department to improve patient care and workflow. Encourages communications between doctors in their service area and between departments. Fosters positive culture and positive working relationships between hospital leadership, doctors, and support staff by facilitating open and frequent communication between leadership and clinicians. Provides departmental updates to keep team well-informed of staffing needs as well as changes to policies, procedures, and staffing. Manages and/or supports clinician schedules for respective service ensuring appropriate coverage and approving time off requests. Supports proper alignment on charging guidelines for their department. Works in collaboration with P&O and hospital leadership regarding associate relations issues with direct reports. Participates in Patient Safety Committee Meetings to increase impact to medical quality for the hospital, based on the committee structure of the assigned hospital. Partners with Vet Relations Representative to support vet relations initiatives as needed. We promote a family-like culture. We are truly in this together.
