Professional Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Director of Development 3 is responsible for supporting unit fundraising goals by planning and conducting outreach designed to promote constituent understanding of a unit's activities and research with the aim of cultivating donors and raising money. Positions at this level may have assigned lead or management responsibilities for assigned development staff. These efforts may include, but are not limited to annual giving, major gift development, and planned gift identification and advancement. Extensive travel in Washington State, the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere is required. A Director of Development 3 manages a portfolio of approximately donors, secures 12 - 16 major gifts or pledges, opens a minimum of 20 solicitations, and has a minimum annual fundraising goal of $750,000. The Director of Development 3 closes a third of major gifts at $50,000 or higher. Duties and Responsibilities Include: Major Donor Cultivation, Solicitation and Stewardship: 60% • Plan, articulate and execute a solid fundraising plan for WSU Health Sciences. • Work with the Vice Chancellor of Advancement, Sr. Director of Development within College of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, other Advancement staff, volunteers, faculty and system leadership, as well as others as appropriate to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects in support of the academic priorities of the Health Sciences. A major gift is defined as $50,000 or more. This position will enhance and support all stewardship activity as necessary as well as provide stewardship in recognition of these gifts. • The position works to grow the donor pipeline across the four areas: WSU Health Sciences, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, and College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Helping to implement a cultivation infrastructure of regular communications to our donors and friends. To raise awareness of WSU Health Sciences priorities and cultivate them to make a gift. • Individual will help to create robust annual fund program and conduct discovery work to engage potential donors through their philanthropic journey. • Manage a portfolio of discovery prospects. Engage, Cultivate, Solicit, and steward them. Work with other colleagues across the health sciences campus when appropriate to growing individuals' philanthropic interests. • Manage a portfolio comprised of at relationships rated $50K+. • Secure 12 - 16 documented major gifts or pledges. • Raise $750,000. • Open 20 - 30 solicitations/yr. • Make strategic contacts each year. These include phone call, emails, and in person visits that help to inform donors intent, gift amount, timing, and purpose. • Prepare and submit timely contact reports: prepare and submit written proposals, background reports and other development materials for use during donor cultivation and solicitation and ensure that all gifts are processed according to WSU Foundation policy. • Identify key donors/WSU alumni/influencers to enlist help with development initiatives. • Establish among supporters a shared vision of and investment in successful implementation of the WSU Health Sciences Strategic Plan and campaign priorities. • Prepare volunteers to participate in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts. • Collaborate with the WSU Foundation Gift Planning team in helping to advance major/planned gift arrangements that require tax or estate planning and with WSU Foundation Corporate & Foundation Relations teams in helping to advance major gift and/or sponsorship opportunities with corporate and
