The Manufacturing Engineer: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and/or equipment related to safety, quality, and productivity improvements in conjunction with quality and manufacturing personnel. Select, design, and specify new manufacturing or manufacturing support equipment. Participate in continuous improvement activities as requested. Responsible for leading projects from initial development through implementation into production Collect and analyze data using appropriate tools. Create operating instructions for new equipment developed. Prepare reports for review. Assist in developing process validations for new/improved processes and equipment. Assist in transitioning new/improved processes into full scale production. Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated Work Instructions Create Change Orders and Planned deviations. Assist the Quality team as needed to identify the root cause of any non-conformances and help identify preventative actions. Assist with the training of production staff on new processes/equipment. Prepare cost justifications and proposals for new equipment Oversee the installation, including infrastructure, of new equipment in conjunction with quality, facilities, and manufacturing personnel. Support the design of new/improved fixtures for allograft machining as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree or higher required from an accredited university in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. 3-5 years of engineering related experience. Demonstrated experience in process development/improvement using appropriate tools (design/process FMEA, Safety, process flow, Risk Analysis, etc.). Strong ability to analyze and solve technical problems and give recommendations. Knowledge of basic computer-based control systems and PLC/HMI programming experience. Experience with parametric 3D solid modeling (SolidWorks) as well as part detailing/dimensioning to support the 3D modeling. Demonstrated experience in the medical device, biotechnology, or other related quality-regulated industry. Experience with manufacturing equipment design, development, and fabrication is an asset. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong PC skills including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point). Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across functional organizations.
