Category Information Technology Description The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking talented candidates for a Computer Technician I at our Silver Springs, NV location. At NATC, our Computer Technicians supports a team of engineers' intent on designing, manufacturing, and testing innovative automotive mobility solutions. Founded in 1957, the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is a privately owned, independent test, evaluation, design and engineering facility offering development and testing to customers worldwide. We have substantial international experience, which allows us to evaluate products intended for global markets knowledgeably and objectively. NATC has compiled an extensive database of worldwide operational and infrastructure conditions allowing accurate definition of user duty cycles and creation of test programs that are representative of service environments around the world. NATC is a leading innovator in translating real-world conditions into validated virtual proving ground simulation and virtual prototyping. NATC's location in the great basin of Nevada allows our team to access terrain that can represent 85% of the world within a 150 mile radius, providing an excellent test bed for off-road mobility. POSITION SUMMARY: Installs, maintains, and upgrades hardware and software of an entire organization's computer systems. Supports servers and networking equipment in that environment and works under general supervision from senior members within the IT department. This position will escalate problems by following proper policies and procedures. Computer Technicians act as intermediaries between company users and the organizations IT support staff for problem explanations and clear communication with user(s) during the process of problem resolution. This position will need to document records of problems and the corrective measured used for resolution. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide support of incoming requests to the service desk via telephone, web portal, and email to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end-user issues. Install network cabling and other network equipment (i.e. routers and switches). Monitor server backups to ensure that these take place regularly and correctly. Monitor workstation backups and antivirus updates. Monitor and recommend changes to policy and procedures, hardware and software. Configure, troubleshoot, and monitor the functioning of personal computers and server systems, and undertake pre-emptive maintenance to help mitigate issues that may arise to address crucial business needs of an organization. Supports servers and networking equipment in that environment and works under general supervision from senior members within the IT department. Document records of problems and the corrective measured used for resolution. Identify training available to improve IT support to clients and personnel. Assists with establish best practices and streamline processes by creating and implementing procedures and documentations for Web Application and Client/Server Systems. Assemble computer system components and maintain PC environment to ensure that systems are configured accordingly to government standards. Other duties as assigned. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Assists in special projects. Pay: $43,680-$52,000 Position Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in computer science or equivalent or; A+ certification or equivalent experience in repairing PC computers. One year experience in computer repair upgrades of hardware and installation of software. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with varied work shifts. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, expressing ideas clearly and actively listening to thoughts and ideas of others. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be professional and personable and able to relate well with employees at all levels. Must have excellent organization and time management skills. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to observe proper safety precautions. Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public. Must possess a current Nevada Driver's License and clean driving record for the past three (3) years.
