Job Description Dewberry is currently seeking a Traffic Project Engineer/Project Manager in our Pittsburgh, Mechanicsburg, or Philadelphia Offices. Primary responsibilities will be traffic engineering design, including Traffic Signal design and TIS studies. Work may also include Safety Studies, ITS, Signing and Pavement Marking Plans, and Traffic Control Plans. Candidate will be part of Dewberry's growing transportation engineering practice involved in a wide variety of projects in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. Ideal candidate will have 5 - 15 years of traffic engineering experience on PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) and/or design-build projects. Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in groups. Responsibilities Prepare signal designs, signal reports, and signal plans. Complete intersection analysis, signal/pedestrian timings, wiring diagrams, and special provisions. Coordinate with PennDOT/ PTC staff and municipalities. Provide traffic analysis for highway projects to assist with developing alternative designs which may include roundabouts, DDI's, interchange/ramp reconfigurations, roadway widening, and intersection improvements. Coordinate traffic counts with subconsultants. Participate in Roadway Safety Audits. Complete HSM analysis for transportation alternatives. Complete Temporary Signal Plans, Signing & Pavement Marking Plans, and Traffic Control Plans. Determine scope of work and prepare man-hour estimates for traffic engineering tasks. Assist in developing statements of interest, including strategies and potential alternative designs. Provide mentorship and training for junior level traffic staff and work in a team environment. Work with Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Traffic Staff to complete other tasks as needed. Provide quality control oversight for all aspects of the traffic engineering tasks. Involvement in professional societies is encouraged. Required Skills & Required Experience BS in Civil Engineering PA Professional Engineer license is required, a PTOE is preferred 5-15 years of experience in traffic engineering, preferably on PennDOT, PTC projects Proficient with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCM Methodology/HCS Proficient with MicroStation Working knowledge of PennDOT and PTC design standards and best practices Strong technical writing skills required for reports Familiarity with MUTCD and AASHTO; Highway Safety Manual; SignCAD Vissim Modeling, Highway Lighting and/or ITS design experience considered a plus Ability to monitor schedules and budgets Excellent communication and organizational skills are required Maintain positive employee relations and proactive project communication Driving is a requirement of the position.
