Purpose The Mechanical Product Engineer has the responsibility to develop mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions for the marine market compliant with government and industry standards. The engineer will also be responsible for the sustaining engineering of any Limerick design controlled products. Main Responsibilities Develop new products for target customers based on Sales and Product management input.Develop variations for existing product platforms based on customer needs.Liaise with customer's technical staff and the SeaStar key account managers, product management and engineering leadership to develop solutions and internal cost the product requirements, high level design specifications, test & validation methods and plans in coordination and approval with the Customer's application requirements.Specify and evaluate engineering materials ensuring suitability to application in intended environments.Support Customer and Quality Assurance regarding field technical issues and related corrective action. Process Engineering Change Requests including development of plan to execute change, updating documentation and coordination with other functional groups.Provide support for assessments of competitive products and technologies.Produce drawings and specifications for products and components.Support manufacturing and manufacturing engineering with production issues RequirementsQualifications and Experience We believe that the ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experiences:•Degree in Engineering Discipline•Mechanical or electro-mechanical engineer preferred.•5-7 years of experience in a related engineering position.•Strong organizational and time management skills.•Ability to work professionally and diplomatically with a variety of internal and external business partners.•Good written and verbal communication skills.•Ability to analyze and solve problems in a team environment.•Preference given for experience in vehicle control markets.•Knowledge of solid modeling software (Creo Parametric preferred).•Knowledge of 2-D modeling software (AutoCAD preferred).•Functional understanding of ANSI Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.•Functional understanding of measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, comparators, etc)•Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including turning, milling, molding, die casting, stamping, and extruding.•Working knowledge of rapid prototyping processes including machining, 3D printing, and laser cutting•Functional understanding of electro mechanical sensors and measurement devices (potentiometers, DC circuits, ohm meters, oscilloscopes, etc.).•Ability to construct, interpret and apply Design FMEA's and Process FMEA's•Project management experience with demonstrated ability to meet required timeline commitments. •Advanced use of typical office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project)•Intermediate use of MS AccessSuccess Factors To be successful in this role, you understand the importance of our core values - Together We Build Our Future, We Embrace Change, We Play To Win, and We Embrace Change ; these values reflect the heart and soul of Dometic and they define what it takes to work here and how we do things.
