Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members' and the community's understanding of the YMCA's cause and impact. Supports and instructs programs in a variety of program areas at the YMCA in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Program areas may include Gymnastics, Ninja, Fitness, PE, Teens, Climbing, Aquatics, Arts and Humanities, Membership, Childcare and School Age Programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y's commitment to DEIB and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner. Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, and educational programs as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. Builds effective, culturally aware, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA using a DEI lens. Help to establish new program activities and expand programs in Y youth sports, youth, and teen programs with a focus on youth development and healthy living in accordance with strategic operating plans Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct. Be self-motivated and can work independently or as a team member. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of experience working with youth. Must have had coaching or teaching experience. A certificate in DEI or extensive training and work experience.
