Responsibilities Support the concurrent design & development team to develop manufacturable & cost effective new products throughout the KDPD process by assessing new product concepts for design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and manufacturing based cost estimating Provide support to engineering & operations in the preparation of detailed manufacturing assembly/test work instructions (supplemented w/ photographs) for electro-mechanical assemblies. Resolve design, process, & tooling problems related to assembly of components. Troubleshoot and perform root cause failure analysis on mechanical subsystems and components. Highlighting manufacturability issues and developing resolutions jointly with the design team Drive programs to develop supplier and/or in-house manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement systems to achieve problem resolution with minimum supervision via workflow optimization, cycle time reduction, & error reduction. Prepare additional technical support documentation such as: As Built Configuration Records, Process Flow Travelers, Total Quality Process Audit Checklists, Troubleshooting Guides, and Test & Adjustment, Labor Hour, & Build Yield Data Collection Forms. Transition a stable product to the production and sustaining organizations in order to meet the Program Goals (i.e. - safety, ease of manufacture, lead-time, cycle time, quality, yield, reliability and cost objectives). Create weekly progress report on the deliverables for your area/s of focus. Review detail and assembly drawings produced by design engineering for completeness, accuracy, tolerance requirements, clarity, etc. To perform assembly and testing of electro-mechanical modules and processes and design the optimal build sequence to ensure that the work is done in a safe, productive manner to the required quality standards; cleanroom environment. To support customers or suppliers in resolving any technical issues relating to the manufacturing / test processes. Travelling may be required (10% of the time) Qualifications Requirements 7-10 years minimum in electro-mechanical design, assembly &/ test experience Broad/solid knowledge in Electro-Mechanical Design and/or Manufacturing Engineering experience, Assembly Process, & Mechanical CAD (NX preferred). Component part manufacturing processing a plus. Being proactive & incorporating good manufacturability principles in product design. Experienced w/ the following computer application software: MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word, and a Photo Editor (i.e. - MS Picture Manager). Knowledge of Job Costing applications and product costing analysis is a plus. Hands on approach in initiating materials failure analysis and corrective /preventive actions closure. Possess the specialized knowledge to source for alternatives to a problem. Adaptability to changing program priorities. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact w/ cross-functional global teams, including written & verbal communication, w/ an ability to understand & simplify technical jargon, and eliminate any technical ambiguity. Good presentation skills for in-house design for manufacturing reviews & weekly reporting.
