About the Tax Senior Associate Role The Tax Senior Associate takes responsibility for client work being performed on time, appropriate scope of services and within budget. In this role, you will: • Prepare more complex tax returns, organizes work papers, maintains open items list and conducts self-review of work before submission to reviewer • Take responsibility for service quality, thoroughness, and accuracy; proactively works with client and in-charge to gather data and follow-up on open items • Assess problem/issue materiality and interprets the implications for the client • Stay current on regulatory and industry issues • Consistently take on work outside of "comfort zone," asks for stretch assignments to develop • Prepare more complex projections, provisions and returns with accuracy and according to firm policies and procedures • Have significant involvement in tax planning • Begin to review returns • Document research and planning to share with team, colleagues, and clients • Demonstrate awareness of firm risk management policies and procedures • Demonstrate self-awareness of personal strengths • Have a comprehensive understanding of tax code, regulations, and rulings • Master tax software tools for preparation, review, and research • Become a 'go to' professional for specialized knowledge in the firm • Begin to identify area of expertise To be successful in this role, you will bring with you: • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting (or related degree that provides eligibility to sit for the NYS CPA examination). • Three to five years of experience with preparing tax returns • CPA licensure or process in place. • Comprehensive understanding of tax law • Accrual and cash basis accounting experience • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, and QuickBooks. Other accounting software experience is a plus. • Excellent oral and written communication skills in a language our clients understand. • Ability to collect and interpret data. • Critical thinking to search for creative solutions by demonstrating objectivity and realism. • Excellent client service skills including the ability to persuade and make a connection. • Ability to portray confidence through leadership skills to earn the respect of our clients. • Ability to work both independently and in conjunction with a team. • Understanding of when and how to work in an efficient manner. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience; prior relevant experience, skill sets, training; licensure and certifications; market data and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this role can be found in the posting, and an actual offer can vary based upon the role, hiring location, and qualifications.
