Eaton's IS AER MSD is currently seeking a Model Shop Machinist III. This position is based at our Orchard Park, NY facility. Eaton is a premier manufacturer of aerospace mission system applications. Core hours for this position is 7AM-3:30PM. The hourly pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00 per hour.Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you'll do:The Orchard Park facility has approximately 450 employees (and growing) with strong pedigree of high-pressure pneumatics in the domains of Space Life Support, Space Propulsion, Oxygen Systems, Composite Pressure Vessels, Weapons Carriage Systems, Missile Actuation, and Commercial Aviation Emergency Actuation. We engineer safe, reliable, field-proven technologies that are ready for service for the people that use our products, from astronauts to commercial aviation customers. This position is for a Level III Machinist role supporting the Orchard Park Model Shop. It is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is playing a key role in the rapid growth of both new product development and legacy production. The machinist contributes to the development of prototype parts, providing feedback to the design engineering organization on manufacturability. The Level III Machinist works on challenging projects, developing manufacturing processes, determining tooling requirements, and utilizing various programs to evaluate solid models and develop CNC programs, etc. The machinist is frequently called upon to solve complex and unique problems related to repair / rework of machined parts. They work within a dynamic team including more tenured Model Shop machinists. The machinist will typically develop new machining skills/techniques within the role, leading to career growth opportunity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. •Set up and operate CNC and manual machining centers and tooling to fabricate high quality, high precision parts used on Aerospace Platforms.•Inspect machined parts to drawing requirements.•Programming and posting of tool paths, tool selection, and feeds and speeds into CNC machine tools using MasterCAM (or similar CAM Software) •Use of SolidWorks for model review and feature retrieval.•Participate in internal design reviews to build a more in-depth understanding of the current product lines.•Perform preventative machine tool maintenance such as inspecting/replacing fluids and addressing issues that could lead to damage or performance issues with the machine tools.•Willingness to multitask and operate multiple machines under supervision. •Assist and mentor less experienced model shop machinists as necessary.•Work with Design/Development Engineers during product development including assisting Engineers with understanding practical machining practices.Qualifications:Required:•Minimum 3 years experience operating a CNC machine tools to fabricate high tolerance, fine finish metal and plastic parts.•Minimum 3 years experience operating manual shop equipment such as lathes and millings, band saws, and grinders.•Minimum 3 years experience in a low volume, high precision prototype environment.•Minimum 1 year experience with ProtoTrak turning and machining centersPreferred:•2 or 4 year machining or machine tool technology degree from an accredited educational institution•Minimum of 3 years experience in a model shop or engineering-development machine shop environment•Familiar with general cutting and measuring tools used in a model shop environment.•Experience with part inspection and measurement methods of tight tolerance features.•Understands the differences of standard materials (aluminum, CRES, Plastics, etc).•Knowledge and experience with reading dimensioned drawings.•Ability to utilize standard measuring and inspection equipment for measurement of high tolerance, fine finish parts.#IND123#LI-RR2We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
