Job Title: OR Tech / Surgical Tech Job Specialty: Surgical Services Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (06:45 - 15:15) Guaranteed Hours: Contact manager for details Experience: Minimum 3 years required License: No license required for this role Certifications: BLS required, CST preferred Must-Have: Experience in a Level I Trauma Center Job Description: - Work in Surgical Services as an OR Tech / Surgical Tech- Perform duties in a high-volume setting with an average daily census of 50-60 cases per day- Be available for weekend work once a month (16 hours of obligation)- On-call requirements as needed for the department- Floating within the scope of practice to meet facility needs- Possess skills and experience in various procedures across multiple specialties, including: - Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT): Direct Laryngoscopy, Radial neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy - Endoscopic Procedures: Colonoscopy, EGD, PEG tube placement/exchange - General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection (Open/LAP), Hernia repair, Laparoscopic procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy - Gynecology: Abdominal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior repair, Bilateral tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Vaginal Hysterectomy - Neurosurgery: Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion - Oral Surgery: Repair of fractured jaws - Orthopedic: Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Fracture reduction, Laminectomy/discectomy - Plastic Surgery: Free Flap - Microvascular - Trauma: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA - Urology: Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic cases, Nephrectomy- Possess emergency management skills such as Fire Safety- Experience with medical equipment including drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources- Proficient in professional practices including Aseptic Technique, Isolation Precautions, and Specimen Handling- Preferred experience in a teaching hospital- Required to arrive 3 business days prior to compliance to meet fingerprinting requirements- Mandatory flu vaccination with medical or religious exemptions only- Use of Cerner for chartingThis position is a great opportunity for experienced OR Techs to be part of a dynamic surgical team in an acute care, Level I trauma, and magnet facility environment.
