POSITION SUMMARY - Spanish/English Bilingual preferred Responsible for assisting with overall safety and the corporate Environmental Management System (including environmental and ISO 14001 compliance). Assures that organizational safety and environmental standards are achieved at plant levels and that plant personnel are maintaining and monitoring the programs in compliance with organizational policies, OSHA, Department of Health, and EPA regulations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assists in forming general safety policies and measures to be followed by Corporate and plant personnel Inspects plant facilities to detect existing or potential accidents, health hazards and environmental issues, and recommends corrective or preventive measures where indicated Consults with all plants on use of equipment, shop floor hazards, fire prevention, and general safety programs Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries, cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for Corporate in case of hearings or lawsuits Manage safety and ergonomic issues that will reduce worker's compensation and insurance costs Compiles and submits required OSHA accident reports if needed Evaluates and recommends changes in methods and procedures in assigned area of responsibility Advise plant management concerning the organizations environmental and safety objectives Responsible for assisting plants and other MPG facilities with environmental compliance and customer requirements relating to EMS (compliance obligations) Assists with regulatory research and permitting, and maintaining current information on regulatory requirements Perform other essential functions as assigned JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Safety preferred or equivalent experience Minimum of 3 - 5 years of safety management experience, preferably with automotive/stamping supplier SPECIAL SKILLS Computer literate Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communications skills WORKING CONDITIONS Normal office environment Normal shop environment, which includes travel to plant sites; use of personal protection equipment; hazards and conditions typically associated with a manufacturing environment Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
