To learn more about Understood, please visit Who you are To advance Understood's mission and further our impact, we are hiring a Manager of Internal Communications, who will report to the Director of Internal Communications. The ambitious communicator who takes on this role will be responsible for sharing our story with employees. This rising leader will be laser-focused on ensuring every Understood employee understands the organization's priorities and can see how their work contributes to empowering the 70M people in the U.S. who have thinking and learning differences. You're a communications professional with an entrepreneurial spirit. You blend strategic thinking and operational excellence by never settling for the status quo. You find personal fulfillment from designing and executing a plan, seeing the results of your work, and after reflection, refining the approach to make an even more significant impact. This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of three (3) days a week in our NYC office. What you'll do Own employee communications channel strategy and content development, ensuring employees receive the right information at the right time. Develop and regularly update messaging architecture to ensure consistency and clarity in communicating our mission, strategy, and success in achieving them. Maintain and share the organization's employee-communications calendar. Work with the Content Team to create compelling materials to support internal communications. This includes presentations, social posts, videos, graphics, long- and short-form articles, social media posts, and events. Work cross-functionally to produce employee-facing events that grow commitment to the mission and clarity around our strategic approach. Establish capabilities to measure the impact of communications; providing leaders with insights, implications, and recommendations for continually strengthening employee engagement. Must-haves Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience with a focus on internal communications. Confidence in building communications strategies and gaining buy-in from leaders. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Experience developing creative concepts and working with content design and development partners (graphic design, video, and podcast) to bring them to life. Demonstrated ability to create compelling presentations. Successful history of leading the development and execution of employee events; from offsites and workshops to town halls and program launches. A proven track record of working across matrixed teams to drive projects to completion. Familiarity with optimizing tech platforms used in publishing and distributing employee communications. Ability to apply new technology to enhance processes and deliver better work products. The base salary range for this role is a minimum of $85,000-$100,000 maximum, depending on years of experience and qualifications.
