SUMMARY: This position will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and refining production processes to boost efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The Process Engineer will be instrumental in enhancing manufacturing operations while upholding safety standards and Nichiha guidelines. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: Process Evaluation and Improvement: Analyze and assess production processes and equipment adequacy. Lead or collaborate on projects aimed at reducing losses and enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), including rates, yields, capacity, and schedule adherence. Data Analysis: Review and evaluate existing data to support informed decisions for process improvements. Project Management: Partner with the Senior Manager of Maintenance to design, install, and commission new production units and control systems, adhering to the Management of Change process. Oversee equipment modifications and upgrades, troubleshoot processes, and ensure successful start-ups and upgrades. Documentation: Prepare detailed reports, flow diagrams, and charts to document processes and changes. Cost and Time Management: Manage project budgets and timelines effectively. Process Optimization and Training: Collaborate with plant management to optimize plant processes. Develop and deliver training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to personnel. Scale-Up: Support the transition of small-scale processes to large-scale commercial operations. Safety and Efficiency: Work with the Plant Manager, EH&S Manager, and Production Manager to enhance plant efficiency, output, and safety. Ensure processes meet quality, rate, and output requirements to fulfill supply needs. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all operational and process regulations. Assess the safety and environmental impact of plant processes and future capital projects. Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects at different stages, applying DMAIC and Six Sigma principles for root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Quality Improvement: Utilize Six Sigma principles to address quality issues and drive improvement projects. Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: · 3-5 years of Process Engineer experience required · Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred · Knowledge of statistical methods and statistical software packages · Demonstrated results in process improvement · Six Sigma Green Belt preferred · Process and Project Management experience preferred · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is necessary · Ability to understand and use manufacturing processes. This includes understanding how to set up and operate machines · Able to thrive in a high-pressure environment · Multitasking and prioritizing · Team player, strong collaboration SAFETY: · Understand and follow all safety procedures o Current on all safety trainings o Wears all required PPE when necessary (steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear plugs) · Understand Lock Out Tag Out procedures for assigned areas. · Understand Confined Space and Hot Work · Perform duties according to OSHA guidelines, policies and procedures · Complete General Plant Safety Training within the first 8 weeks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Must be able to lift at least 50lbs and to push-pull up to 75lbs. · Must be able to work long periods while continuously standing, twisting, bending, reaching, and stooping. · Must be able to work environment which is dusty and noisy. · Must be able to work in plant environment with extreme seasonal temperatures.
