Student Health Insurance Plan Coordinator Job no: 497373 Work type: Staff Full-time Department: Office of Student Finance Location: Wilf Campus, 500 West 185th Street, NY, NY Categories: Administrative Support, Student Services Position Summary: The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) Coordinator will be the lead for managing and administering the student health insurance program for Yeshiva University. Tasks include being the point of contact with vendors, answering questions from students/parents and administrators, assisting in processing waivers, and handling other information to ensure the program is successful. This position is mostly remote, with some in-office days required for orientation and staff meetings/trainings. Position Responsibilities: Administer the student health insurance program for all YU students on all campuses. Direct broker on the purchase, renewal, and administration of the program. Coordinate billing and collection of premium fee with professional staff in Student Finance. Ensure SHIP website is up-to-date and informative for current and prospective students. Answer all inquiries related to the program. Make recommendations for waivers. Troubleshoot billing, login, or other technical issues enrollees may encounter. Ensure timely communications are disbursed regarding enrollment, opt-in/out, as well as other program information. Serve as a backup for the Office of Student Accounts and assist with operational tasks during peak periods. Maintain reports on usage, enrollment, open rates, and operational effectiveness of the program. Facilitate communication with students and parents about the need to enroll/waive, etc. Ensure proper document retention in accordance with statutory and internal business practices. Coordinate with other departments of YU as needed around SHIP. Assist with other tasks related to student health policies and procedures, such as State-mandated immunization and/or vaccination requirements. Experience & Educational Background: Bachelor's degree. One or more years of professional experience working in higher education, managing benefits plans, and/or providing customer service. Skills & Competencies: Exceptional oral and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion. Demonstrated track record of taking initiative, being proactive, and remaining flexible and resilient. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, preferably in the context of working with student populations, is required.
