Position: Commercial HVAC Estimator Location: Tonawanda, NY Schedule: M-F Pay Range: $65,000-$85,000 What We Are Looking For We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial HVAC Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in our organization, responsible for reviewing construction drawings, creating bill of materials, producing duct takeoffs, and facilitating the fabrication of Sheetmetal fittings. This individual will work closely with sales, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure competitive pricing, accurate estimates, and timely delivery of submittal packages & bids. What You Will Do Review construction documents provided by the sales team to understand scope of work and required materials. Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC systems in both public and private construction projects. Utilize Planhub, Construction Exchange, and other platforms to manage and submit bids. Use BeamAI estimation software to ensure accurate and efficient estimation processes. Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers to gather pricing and ensure all aspects of the bid are covered. Coordinate with the project management team to ensure bids align with project goals and budgets. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather information for accurate estimations. Manage multiple bids simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met. Maintain communication with stakeholders throughout the bidding process to address any questions or concerns. Prepare and submit comprehensive bid packages, including detailed cost breakdowns and supporting documentation. Ensure all bids comply with public and private bid submission requirements, including any specific guidelines for public sector projects. Keep detailed records of all bid submissions and outcomes for future reference. Identify opportunities for process improvement within the estimation and bidding workflow. Provide feedback to management on potential improvements to bidding strategies and tools. Maintain organized records of estimates, material pricing, and vendor communications. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, pricing, and best practices to ensure competitive and accurate bids. Furthermore, they do not establish an employment contract and are subject to change at the discretion of the Company What You Will Need Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. 3-5 years of experience in estimating commercial HVAC systems, preferably within the construction or mechanical contracting industry. Proficiency in HVAC design and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Experience with estimating software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) Knowledge of local building codes and regulations related to HVAC installations. Certifications such as LEED AP, ASHRAE, or NATE are advantageous. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and materials, including load calculations, ductwork, piping, and ventilation systems. Ability to perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates. Experience in analyzing bid documents, scopes of work, and vendor proposals. Knowledge of labor, material, and equipment costs in the HVAC industry. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software for creating and reviewing system layouts. Strong analytical abilities to assess project requirements and develop cost-effective solutions. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in estimates or project documents. Experience in value engineering to optimize costs while maintaining system performance and quality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for preparing proposals and presenting estimates to clients and stakeholders. Ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure project success. Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits. Willingness to travel to job sites as needed. Physical ability to conduct site surveys, including climbing ladders and navigating construction sites.
