OVERVIEW Cedarstone began in 1993 as one friend helping another establish a nonprofit. As an Accounting Associate you process financial transactions, accounts payable, expense reports, and/or payroll for a set of clients. This role involves researching issues that arise and solving problems for clients. You are responsible for consistently delivering agreed-upon services to clients in an accurate and timely manner. Salary: $18-20/hour, depending on experience. Job class: FT or PT flexible schedule. Reports to: Accounting Associate Team Lead. Location: US-based hybrid position; Cedarstone's headquarters are in Wheaton, IL. Environment: A friendly, flexible, collaborative place where people work as a team. SUCCESS MEASURES Client retention. Meet or exceed 90% client retention. Perform client contracts. Execute client contracts in a timely and accurate manner. RESPONSIBILITIES Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll (65%) Financial transactions. Process financial transactions, follow client processes and control policies, respond to client questions, and research solutions to client problems. Accounts payable. Prepare and process client invoices and wire transfers in a timely and accurate manner. Expense reporting. Process client expense reports, and export payment information to the general ledger. Process client payroll in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain client data. Month end checklist. Ensure that all your client tasks are listed in Canopy. Hours worked by client. Notify your supervisor if your work hours for a client exceed targeted hours for that client. Client Engagement (10%) Client engagement. Meet with each client's operations team at a frequency agreed upon with the client. Engage in conversations based on client situations, financial analysis and projections, and cost identification and allocation. Proactively ask clients questions related to AP, AR, and payroll, answer their questions, and follow up on their requests and action items in a timely manner. Explain information in reports to clients, provide analytical tools to assist them in problem solving, and collaborate with them on developing solutions. Produce special reports as needed, including reports for their board of directors. Staff Engagement (10%) Cross-functional orientation. Understand how Accounting Associate teams work cross-functionally with other Cedarstone teams for efficient service delivery to clients. Assist in client onboarding and provide backup coverage to other Accounting Associates. Client relationship teams. Meet with select client service teams weekly or bi-weekly to ensure all client commitments are met and staff questions have been addressed. Work assignments. Perform work assigned to you. Participate in prescribed training for your growth and development. Ask for support from your supervisor and others that can help resolve client problems and enhance communication with clients. Knowledge Sharing (5%) Internal resource. Be a resource for other Associates by providing technical expertise or communication advice as they resolve client issues. Process Improvement (5%) Collaborate with other Associates and staff to identify process improvement opportunities, brainstorm solutions, and initiate implementations that can enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity across all accounting teams. General (5%) Document processes to ensure work could be carried out by someone else. Perform other responsibilities as assigned and attend various Cedarstone meetings. QUALIFICATIONS Experience and education 1+ years experience working in a business office environment. 2-year or 4-year degree that includes business training. Skills Knowledge of common business practices. Research and problem-solving skills. Good at figuring out puzzles. Organizational abilities. Spreadsheet calculation abilities. Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Attention to detail and good organization skills. Adept at fixing own mistakes.
