POSITION SUMMARY: The Structural Engineer position is for a design professional with 5+ years of experience. This individual will design a variety of structural building projects (owned by municipalities, school districts, utilities authorities and private clients) and will report directly to the Department Manager. PRIMARY DUTIES: Perform structural calculations and modelling for new and existing buildings, retaining walls, and other structures related to Buildings. Maintain strong technical knowledge of design techniques, procedures, regulations, materials, and specifications. Perform independent, complex engineering calculations and prepare construction plans, specifications, and estimates. Coordinate with a team in order to prepare technical reports and construction drawings. Periodically perform field inspections. Participate and support client meetings Perform research in support of developing design solutions Ideal candidate is an individual who is highly proactive, detail oriented, has good written and oral communication skills. Exercise good judgment in following standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design tasks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: The ideal candidate will be a licensed structural engineer with outstanding experience in the design of steel, concrete and wood commercial and institutional buildings Knowledge in steel design, wood design, concrete design, aluminum design and cold formed steel framing system analysis and design Exposure to interpreting Geotechnical engineering reports Experience on design codes such as IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and other applicable codes. Knowledge in AutoCAD , and/or REVIT Knowledge in Structural Modeling Software (i.e. STADD, RAM, Tekla Structural Designer, SAP) Excellent verbal and written communication skills and willing to work in a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED Professional Engineer (PE) License (Preferred) PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
