THIS IS A CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT POSITION. TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST POSSESS A CURRENT LICENSE TO PRACTICE AS A REGISTERED NURSE IN NEW YORK STATE AND POSSESS A CURRENT NEW YORK STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT CERTIFICATION AS A NURSE PRACTITIONER WITH A SPECIALTY AREA OF PEDIATRICS, FAMILY MEDICINE, OR SCHOOL HEALTH; AND IN ADDITION, EITHER A) ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE AS A NURSE PRACTITIONER IN PEDIATRICS, FAMILY MEDICINE OR SCHOOL HEALTH OR B) TWO YEARS OF REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSING EXPERIENCE IN PEDIATRICS, FAMILY MEDICINE OR SCHOOL HEALTH. NOTICE TO CANDIDATES: TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED AT TIME OF APPLICATION. Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week) - Candidates should anticipate following the 10-month duty schedule with an additional 20 days to be worked from July 1 - August 31. Possible opportunity for 11 or 12- month duty schedule. Duties of Assignment: Oversight of RNs & LPNs at 18 sites, managing staffing & coverage (building level coverage, 1:1, transportation & field trips, float nurses); performs mandated school health appraisals, student working paper physicals, sports physicals; reviews medical histories and documentations for accommodations; review & sign scripts for OT & PT services and stock medications; writes standing orders; completes mandated reporting to NYSDOH; works with Athletics for concussion clearances and placement process; works with Student Services and contracted agencies; adheres to medical and nursing protocols; interviewing, hiring, & training of new nursing staff; communicates with collaborating physician; arrange continuing education for nurses.
