The Department of Food and Nutrition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital consists of Patient, Retail and Catering Service areas on both the North and South Campus.• This includes patient meal and Clinical Nutrition Services, Queeny Tower Restaurant, three Cafeterias and three Coffee Bars.• It is the role of the department to serve the needs of patients, visitors and employees with excellent customer service.• Our qualified staff services the patients' nutritional needs during their hospital stay according to specified guidelines to improve their clinical status and assist in the healing process.• Opportunities are available for all skill levels from entry-level positions to licensed and/or certified management positions. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Takes orders from customers providing exceptional service. Cooks a variety of grilled and fried menu items while ensuring the correct cooking and holding temperatures. Properly handles and stores food per applicable regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Properly chills and stores foods in designated areas following all labeling, dating, food safety guidelines and rotation procedures as well as completing designated food safety quality control logs. Cleans kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure conformance to the highest level of sanitation. Serves as a primary customer service representative for food and nutrition services providing quick, friendly and efficient service. Prepares grilled food items and deep fried food items utilizing a flat top grill, char-broiler, and deep fat fryer ensuring that all food items are served at the required temperature. Ensures proper and consistent food portioning.
