Purchasing Manager Role Role Importance: The Purchasing Manager is a strategic position vital to optimizing Hovair procurement processes and enhancing supply chain efficiency. This role may be tasked to support other D&B locations as necessary. This role is responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies that align with company goals, ensuring the timely acquisition of quality goods and services while managing costs effectively. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Vendor Management: The Purchasing Manager will lead efforts to build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts that ensure quality and cost-effectiveness while aligning with company standards. Inventory and Supply Chain Oversight: The manager will oversee inventory levels and forecast needs based on production requirements, implementing systems to minimize excess stock and reduce shortages. Procurement Process Optimization: Developing and refining procurement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance, ensuring that purchasing activities support overall business objectives. Team Leadership: The Purchasing Manager will lead a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. Competencies Required: Strategic Thinking: The ability to analyze market trends and anticipate future procurement needs is crucial for making informed decisions that benefit the organization long-term. Strong Negotiation Skills: Proficiency in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships to secure the best terms and maintain quality standards. Drawing / Print interpretation: Proficiency at interpreting 2D engineering and material drawings as well as understanding of manufacturing processes to achieve required dimensional tolerancing for purchased components. Success Metrics: Operational Efficiency: The effectiveness of procurement strategies will be measured by cost savings achieved, timely delivery of goods, and overall inventory management. Team Development: Success will also depend on the ability to cultivate a high-performing team, promoting professional development and collaboration. Regulatory Compliance: Maintaining adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards will be critical in ensuring the integrity of procurement practices. Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a proven track record in a leadership role. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and inventory management systems is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as NAPM membership or CPM are advantageous. Work Environment Considerations: The role may involve occasional travel for supplier audits and negotiations, requiring the manager to be flexible and available as needed.
