We are currently searching for a Senior Traffic Engineer/Project Manager to support our growing Traffic Engineering Department in the Mid-Atlantic region located in Springfield, VA, Washington, DC, Columbia, MD, Camp Hill, PA or Virginia Beach, VA . The position may be filled at a lower or higher position depending on the qualifications. The candidate will serve as a Project Manager for the design, management and delivery of traffic engineering projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary team and lead various traffic tasks on roadway improvements, intersection modifications, complete streets and multimodal projects. The candidate will also support Capital Improvement/Mega Projects in the DMV area. The successful candidate will work on challenging transportation design projects providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with locality and state DOT standards. What you'll be doing: Manage traffic engineering tasks involving various intersections safety and multimodal improvements as well as large infrastructure projects Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations Prepare technical reports for traffic studies, interchange access requests, and safety studies Prepare traffic management plan (TMP) and temporary traffic control plans, permanent signing and pavement marking plans Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings, corridor studies and analysis, road safety audits and engineering reports Collaborate with diverse team of professionals including engineers, transportation planners and landscape architects Attend project meetings with clients Lead and manage task orders Assist in developing scope and fee proposals, presentations, and reports Provide mentorship to junior engineers Manage project budgets to meet financial metrics What you need to have: BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent 10+ years of traffic engineering experience PE is required, PTOE is preferred Must be proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD Familiarity with VDOT and/or DDOT standards, MUTCD and AASHTO Proficiency in traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight Attention to details and quality driven approach Characteristics of a successful Volkert team member: Be a brand ambassador for the company who engages in diversity and inclusion, Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment Exercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problems Be able to communicate effectively- verbal and written Be able to multi-task in a team environment Volkert Perks: Competitive compensation Flexibility and a positive work/life balance Challenging and innovative projects Employee referral program Professional development Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) 401(k) retirement savings plan + employer matching Paid Time Off (PTO) and holidays Medical, Dental, & Vision Employer-Paid Life/AD&D insurance Employer-Paid short-term disability and long-term disability Wellness incentives Additional voluntary benefits The words from our Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas A.
