Job Description Summary This job is for a Systems Engineer for the LM2500 engine line. The LM2500 is an industrial and marine variant of the aircraft engine CF6-80C2 that has been modified for to power oil & gas and electrical applications. The Senior Staff Engineer - Systems Engineer will be the engineering leader for LM2500 programs including new product introduction, cost out, reliability improvements, engine delivery and root cause investigations of field issues. You will be responsible for establishing requirements, developing engineering plans to substantiate design changes to meet these requirements, and then leading the engineering teams through execution. This includes the engine level engineering integration and customer communications. Job Description Essential Responsibilities: There are many LM2500 engine models that have evolved over the platforms 40+ year history that span multiple power ratings, dry and wet combustor operation, gas and liquid fuel operation and different compressor and power turbine configurations. The Senior Staff Engineer will need to grasp the breadth of our product offerings and provide guidance to the design, manufacturing, instrumentation, test and business teams. Responsibilities include: Mentor global design teams and hold them accountable to deliverables Support design reviews Actively drive technical excellence and learning throughout the organization Drive root cause and containment for field issues. Develop expertise around unique design difference that have originated from our niche market. Support engine assembly by quickly resolving technical issues Determine and document instrumentation requirements for engine Execute overall engine test plans. Ensure proper use of engineering standard tools and adherence to GE Toll Gate process. Support other GE businesses, internal and external customers, and suppliers as required Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college Minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced engine design or engine systems integration Desired Characteristics: A minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering position Systems Engineering experience with GTEs Engine test experience with GTEs Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects and operational process Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to guide and influence others In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
