The Sous Chef works with our Chef de Cuisine in overseeing Common House Richmond's daily food operations. As a leader of the kitchen, the Sous Chef is responsible for upholding the integrity of the operations, including leading and providing feedback to the staff, kitchen organization, time management and ordering from vendors. An ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills and has a passion for high quality, approachable and comfortable cuisine. Additional Responsibilities include: Staffing Scheduling Being accountable to labor cost goals Training/teaching best practices for Common House's menu Kitchen maintenance Ensuring daily sanitation and organization with equipment preventative maintenance Maintaining health department standards Maintaining systems and protocols for effective and healthy food handling Collaborating with the Chef and fellow Sous Chef's on menu planning Maintaining positive working relationship with GM, AGM and all other department managers Curating and maintaining a positive working environment Constructive criticism Positive reinforcement Teaching new techniques Coaching and curating new talent Qualifications: At least 2+ years of management experience Rely on strong organizational ability Positive demeanor, self-motivated, a willingness to learn and adjust Teamwork mentality between all departments and kitchen team Preferred background in higher-end cuisine with both a la carte and banquet experience Perks: Benefits package including: Health insurance with employer contribution Dental/Vision insurance 401K Basic Life Insurance 3 weeks paid time off Sick pay Extended emergency leave of absence coverage Free membership and 50% employee discounts Potential to grow with a rapidly expanding company with potential relocation options Common House is an equal opportunity workplace.
