Lead CNC Machinist Job Description Sytech Inc., is a fast-paced Precision Sheet Metal Fabrication Company located in Spokane. The Lead CNC Machinist is a highly self-motivated position that is willing to be a valued member of our team. This is a VITAL position, and we require this individual to be flexible and willing to keep the customers in mind at all times; while maintaining Quality of Workmanship, Safety, Accountability, and Teamwork, which is vital to our mission. The successful CNC Machinist is a dependable, innovative individual who works confidently. This individual will review work orders, manage workflow, and prioritize jobs. Review manufacturing drawings and set-up sheets, select proper tools, set-up machine and produce a test piece to qualify correct setup with Quality Management. This individual can expect to work with both software and hardware, conduct tests and inspections of products, services and software systems, and repair faulty programs and machinery. This position should have an above-average aptitude for trigonometry, geometry, statistics and algebra, excellent computer, and interpersonal communication skills, they should be creative, perceptive, detail-oriented and an active learner. This position will have exceptional critical thinking, time management with the ability to handle complex machines and tools, and a willingness to lead by example in the workplace and to work within quality guidelines to ensure that parts are compliant to customer requirements. The lead position is responsible for communication with employees and managers on department status ability to process complex jobs, setting up the machines for other operators, checking and monitoring others' work. This individual needs to possess leadership skills and foster teamwork and ethics among the staff. The position will assist in the development and improvement of company operating procedures under its Lean Manufacturing Continuous Improvement Program. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Writing and interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately. Ability to perform all technician functions as well as operator functions. Manager workflow and prioritize jobs. Communicate with employees and manager on department status. Monitor and coach others on jobs. Ability to process complex jobs. Training and driving improvements. Getting information from all relevant sources. CAD drafting. Controlling machines and processes. Programming, setup, and operating machines. Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products. Analyzing information and finding the best solutions to problems. Keeping the work environment safe. Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work. Check dimensions such as gauge, height and width, holes, and cut-outs against print. Responsible for keeping work area(s) clean. Participate and work in a team atmosphere. Maintain high productivity and quality workmanship. Troubleshoot during production run to maintain quality throughout Parts clean up. Read and interpret bills of materials (BOM) and blueprints. Change tooling as required and perform scheduled maintenance tasks. Deburr parts. Fork-lift operation. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: Requires lifting and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Rotation of head/neck, bending and twisting at the waist, walking, standing, kneeling, reaching. Physical and visual acuity to effectively perform duties. Use of high and low impact vibratory tools. Flexion/extension Contact with metals, lubricants, solvents. Exposure to noise, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm. and ears. Must be able to stand for 8 to 12 hours. Able to maintain a quick and steady pace working efficiently throughout the shift. Where the temperature in the building cannot be controlled, work may be done in hot environments (especially during summer months). Environmental Exposure Contact with metals, lubricants, solvents, and exposure to noise. High noise levels, moving objects such as forklifts and carts. Exposure to hot temperature when working near ovens or in areas of the building that cannot be temperature controlled (especially during summer months). Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Certificate in Machine Shop Technology or Machine Tool Technology/Machinist. 1-2 years' experience in mechanical assembly is preferred. Recognized apprenticeship may be required. Programming skills, understanding G code and Canned Cycles. Strong analytical and communication skills. Advanced understanding of mathematics. Ethical behavior. Familiar with GD&T Attention to detail and self-motivation. Advanced computer skills proficient with Microsoft office, preferred working knowledge of Mastercam, Solid works, EHS ISO experience preferred. Understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing Ability to identify different materials and gauges of steel. Read and interpret blueprints. Safely and properly use a wide variety of shop and measurement tools, including hand and power tools, tape measure, calipers. Highly organized and attentive to tight deadlines with a sharp attention to details. Possess Leadership skills and fosters teamwork and ethics. Work cooperatively with others in a team environment. Follow and provide directions in standard practices and procedures. Has the ability to interpret production schedules and make sound decisions. Communicates and works well in routine and unplanned circumstances with engineering, management, and shop personnel. Work independently with minimal supervision, able to communicate and work with other departments. Ability to verify quality using advanced precision measurement equipment. Demonstrate motivation, initiative, and good work ethics. Safety conscious and have excellent problem-solving skills. Mechanical aptitude.
