Municipal Design Project Manager Department: Civil/Municipal Employment Type: Full Time Location: Lansing, MI Reporting To: Todd Brown Description The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. Due to MSG's continued growth in our Civil/Municipal Division, a new opening is available for a Municipal Design Project Manager in our Lansing, MI offices! Primary Responsibilities The Municipal Design Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, and execution of civil engineering projects from conception to completion. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency in civil engineering principles and strong project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Responsibilities include: Leading and providing technical expertise in the design of municipal engineering projects, including geometric design, grading, drainage, utilities, roadway design, plan development, and cost estimating. Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders and clients. Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project objectives and requirements. Oversee the development of engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Review and approve design plans to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, codes, and project requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, maintaining regular communication and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor project progress, budget, and schedule, identifying and mitigating risks and issues as they arise. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technicians, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring their understanding of project objectives and expectations. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise 8+ years' of experience in design and plan preparation. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, preferably working as a licensed Professional Engineer. Experience with industry design standards, guidelines and specifications (i.e., City of Lansing and surrounding counties/municipalities, MDOT, etc.) and knowledge of AutoCad/Civil 3D grading and/or Open Roads Designer is expected. Proficiency in independent preparation of Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports is a plus. The ability to engage reviewing agencies while preparing technical designs and addressing comments is a critical part of our process. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating and coordinating with review agencies.
