Controller

Tidewater Staffing Solutions is assisting Cleveland State University with the search for a new Controller. The position is open due to a recent promotion. This is a hybrid role, so the position offers significant flexibility. In addition, Cleveland State offers tremendous state benefits along with tuition assistance. Skills and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is ideal. 7+ years accounting experience required including 5 years of management/leadership experience. Government, higher education or non-profit experience is ideal but great candidates without this industry experience WILL BE CONSIDERED. ERP experience is required (SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc.). Must have strong Excel skills including experience creating Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP's. Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical. Must have a strong attention to detail. Strong GAAP knowledge and possibly GASB knowledge is needed. Responsibilities Include: Leading the Controller's Office in producing timely, accurate complete financial information. Managing a team of approximately 5. Ensuring Payroll, Purchasing and Accounts Payable functions are efficient and customer service oriented. Working closely with the CFO and establishing collaborative relationships with external auditors, bankers, and others as needed.
