Additional Position Information LSU Health Sciences Center Division of Facility Services New Orleans is seeking motivated applicants for the position of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic. The person applying must possess two years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems. Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to: Installs, maintains, inspects, alters and repairs heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and components including compressors, condensers, expansion valves, service valves, thermostats, coils and drive assemblies Operates, monitors and controls system wide output Possesses the ability to properly and safely operate the cordless and powered equipment to include drills, portables saws, hand tools, electrical meters, drain snakes and similar equipment used in daily task Takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: As of November 14, 1994, employees must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990). The starting pay for this position is $21.05 with an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only, rate may be adjusted based on applicants' qualifications. SUBSTITUTIONS: Training in the installation, operation or maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration systems will substitute for the two years of required experience on a month for month basis.
