Job Title Assistant Food and Beverage Manager FLSA Classification Exempt Reports to Senior Food and Beverage Manager Supervises Front of house service staff Servers, Bussers, Bartenders, Hosts (Main Clubhouse, Dornoch Grille, Pool Cafe, Halfway Houses, Events) Job Description Summary/objective The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for creating an atmosphere of excellent service in all dining areas and outlets, while exhibiting a standard of excellence and developing pride for membership and staff. They will help in the clubhouse during dining hours, be visible for outlets, a la carte shifts, and club special events. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; a la carte dinner service, banquets, and special events, as well as overseeing the outlets. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Inspects all guest areas of outlets prior to each shift. Checks lighting, music, temperature, cleanliness, and organization of all public areas. Is a visible presence in the outlet areas for lunch shifts and ensures that every table receives a visit by the manager. Displays an in-depth knowledge of daily and weekly banquet events. Continually updates and checks for completion of opening, running, and closing side work by service personnel. Holds the team accountable to accepted standard and steps of service. Interacts with managers and executive team as needed regarding one-on-one coaching conversations, clear, honest, and timely written feedback. Maintains accurate payroll time records and reports. Assists in creation and enforces a structured front of house (FOH) training program utilizing and improving existing processes. Determines correct ounce pour for outlets and bar wine by the glass pours, communicates and trains team to comply, uses marker glass where necessary. Assists with monthly beverage inventory. Assists with banquet and member event execution. Partners with culinary team for purposes of timely room and buffet diagrams, to enhance current standards through change. Cultivates a positive and professional atmosphere. Maintains presence during all service hours, greets members by name, monitors service for improvement and elimination of friction points. Displays a high sense of responsibility for team and responds immediately to team member concerns. Assists in preparing and posts front of house employee schedules reflecting current business levels and promoting member satisfaction. Maintains a safe environment for members, guests, and employees by continually monitoring areas for slip and fall hazards, broken equipment or furniture, and improper use of supplies. Maintains and secures all alcohol storage areas. Attends the weekly manager meetings and additional meetings as requested by the Senior Food and Beverage Manager. Succeeds in attracting, hiring, disciplining, team retention, employee growth, and promotion. Displays complete knowledge of all food and beverage options for various areas of supervision. Assures that state and local laws as well as the Club's policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are followed. Ensures compliance with all fire code laws and requirements. Assists leadership in enforcing all member rules and policies. Communicates all complaints, compliments, accidents, major equipment failures, or service interruptions to the Senior Food and Beverage Manager and The Director of Culinary and Hospitality. Complete any additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Food and Beverage Manager, Food and Beverage Manager or Executive Club Managers. Competencies Ability to prepare and/or serve foods and beverages and supervise employees. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. Knowledge and ability to perform required role during emergency situations. Ability to enter, modify and void member orders. Basic knowledge of Jonas Software for a variety of tasks. Work environment Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment. Physical demands Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach. Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds. Continuous repetitive motions.
