POSITION: Dining Services Tech LOCATION: Centennial High School HOURS: 3 Hours Per Day (10:15am - 1:15pm) CALENDAR: 190 Days Per Year; August - June (will be prorated based on start date) SALARY: $17.69 - $24.49 Per Hour (Range A) BENEFITS: Paid Leaves, Holiday Pay, etc. START DATE: October 21, 2024, or when filled APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until filled JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT/S : The position of Dining Services Technician is an entry-level position in Dining Services and assists with basic food preparation, set-up, meal service, and clean-up of a school cafeteria kitchen and food service areas. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Operate dishwasher; put away dishes, trays, and silverware; wash pots, pans, and other food preparation equipment; clean food preparation surfaces and eating surfaces. Prepare condiments; open canned fruits and prepare fruit cups; make salads; slice fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, and vegetables; prepare basic sauces from recipes; prepare cold sandwiches; assist in setting up steam table; transport food in hot and cold food carts. Serve meals to students from an ala carte or complete meal food service line; serve as a cashier at a food service line, taking cash and meal tickets and keeping student lunch count records. Place leftover foods in cooler or freezer; restock food items. Inventory and fill vending machines and collect and account for monies from vending machines. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Experience Required: Prior related experience in food preparation, serving and basic kitchen activities. Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including students. Must be methodical, well organized and able to multi-task. Knowledge of Basic math, sanitation principles applicable to preparation and serving; and the cleaning of kitchen equipment, trays and utensils, and food eating areas; basic food preparation techniques; basic food preparation equipment; and safe work practices. Ability to perform cleaning functions in an efficient and timely manner, learn to operate industrial dishwasher, mixers, ovens, and other related school cafeteria equipment, learn proper techniques for preparing school lunch meals and controlling individual serving proportions, learn to operate a cash register, understand and carry out oral and written instructions; to stand for prolonged periods, understand and carryout oral and written instructions. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds (potential hazards), visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation. Ability to transfer up to 50 lb. containers to/from carts, dolly, etc. Ability to speak a second language preferred. Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Sufficient education to read and comprehend written instructions related to basic food preparation and the operation of kitchen equipment; and to make basic arithmetic calculations. Licenses, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (applicant agrees to assume cost upon offer of employment). Other: Appropriate Food Handler Permit is required. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
