Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate, full-time opportunity for a P&W Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, located at the Bay City Factory, 2600 S. Euclid Ave., Bay City, MI 48706. JOB SUMMARY The role of the P&W Maintenance Planner Scheduler is to improve workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through the planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, tools, and equipment. The P&W Maintenance Planner Scheduler is responsible for the effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of all maintenance activities through collaboration with maintenance teams, warehouse staff, and other departments to prioritize and execute maintenance tasks while minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment reliability. This role ensures that maintenance work is performed efficiently, safely, and in a cost-effective manner. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained for all employees and ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the maintenance team and maintain accurate records of safety inspections and compliance checks. Utilize Michigan Sugar's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to perform all planning activities. Develop detailed and complete work packages consisting of detailed work instructions, labor estimates, procedures, bill of material, specifications, drawings, tool and equipment requirements, applicable permits, service histories and any other information required by craft or contractor resources to complete work in an efficient manner with emphasis on quality. Review and screen all incoming work requests, complete pre-job planning activities, and review/incorporate all pertinent safety procedures. Evaluate resource requirements (including labor, materials, equipment, tools, and services) in order to plan more efficiently and be cost effective. Prioritize and plan maintenance tasks based on urgency, impact on safety and production, and resource availability. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of spare parts and materials in order to complete work as planned. Set and maintain stockroom inventories. Coordinate with the warehouse team to schedule maintenance activities during optimal times and be responsible for planning and scheduling all major and minor plant shutdowns and related activities. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs based upon Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) data and recommendations to increase plant availability and production output. Develop maintenance and construction work packages based upon engineering design specifications. Monitor equipment performance and condition to anticipate and prevent breakdowns. Adjust PM schedules based on historical data to ensure the right frequencies to reduce waste and improve performance. Liaison with maintenance technicians, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination. Facilitate regular meetings to review maintenance schedules, priorities, and progress. Participate with the warehouse management team at Key Performance Indicator (KPI) meetings and contribute to the development of site maintenance and reliability KPI's. Utilize the PDCA cycle to systematically plan, execute, monitor, and refine planned maintenance activities. Actively participate and play an integral role in root cause analysis (RCA's) teams to eliminate repetitive downtime and avoid unplanned and costly outages. Administer and report on key metrics associated with the AMMS system including budget and schedule compliance. Maintain the master data set including updating as configuration of plant and equipment changes, additions due to capital installations, and refreshed maintenance plans and strategies. All other duties, as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a technical curriculum with 3 years maintenance experience, or 2-year technical degree plus 5 years industrial operations including 3 years maintenance experience, or High School Diploma with 10 years industrial operations including 5 years maintenance and multi-craft certifications acquired through extensive on-the-job training or apprenticeship programs. Detailed knowledge of maintenance and repair practices of large industrial equipment and their associated components such as bearings, pumps, gearboxes, valves, drives, actuators, switchgear, motors, instrumentation, and controls. Must possess adequate craft knowledge to estimate man hours and materials and to visualize the job to be performed. Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems associated with an industrial 24/7 processing. operation and ability to apply technical knowledge to determine equipment problems and appropriate solutions. Ability to communicate proficiently both orally and written. KEY COMPETENCIES Detailed knowledge of safe work practices and hazard control methods, including LOTO. Ability to collaborate with a cross functional team. Ability to deliver results working within collective bargaining agreement. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
