Position Type: Technology/Specialist Date Posted: 10/11/2024 Location: Annex, Round Lake, IL Date Available: 11/04/2024 POSITION: Twelve (12) month SALARY: Starting at $31.59 SUMMARY: This class is accountable for managing and coordinating refresh schedules of staff, student, classroom and district technology. Maintaining up to date knowledge of devices used throughout the district and how to support them. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: General Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Technology Support role or related. Experience supporting, information technology and end users in an enterprise environment. Distributed device management experience preferred. Substitutions Allowed: College training in computer science, information systems, business or a closely related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years for an Associate's Degree. LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Incumbents in this class may be required to possess a current Illinois Motor Vehicle Class D Operator License. D. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Incumbents in this class are required to stay current with applicable IT certifications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of Computing Hardware Platforms and Operating Systems (e.g. Windows Laptops, Apple Macbooks, Apple iPads, Chromebooks, etc); 2. Ability to stay current with emerging technologies; 3. Knowledge of firmware, software and system updates; 4. Advanced technical problem solving skills; 5. Meticulous attention to detail; 6. Ability to train and support staff that have a wide range of varying technological skills; 7. Ability to effectively communicate technical detail in a non-technical manner; 8. Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and determine optimal solution based on user requirements, supportability and budget; 9. Ability to multitask and be flexible; 10. Knowledge of MDM systems, such as JAMF PRO, Intune, Google Admin; 11. Ability to prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports; 12. Excellent oral and written communication skills; 13. Ability to install and maintain hardware and software; and 14. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties; 1. Maintain a minimum of ten (10) technology refresh cycles (e.g. staff laptops, staff iPads, student iPads, classroom projectors, monitors, classroom charging adaptors, printers, copiers, displays, phones, as well as various programmatic technology (e.g. PLTW, MobileMakers, Digital Graphics, etc.); 2. Align and define staff, student and classroom technology standards with the end-user needs; 3. Ensure hardware inventory complies with the new ISBE Inventory requirements and district policies and procedures; 4. Ensures annual refresh of technology is performed with fidelity, accuracy and in an efficient manner; 5. Elevates more complex problems to Manager and/or vendors as necessary; 6. Respond to incidents for support; 7. Ability to identify opportunities for staff training; 8. Provides a variety of support services to IT Department staff; 9. Assist in projects and implementations; 10. Identify potential issues, needs or gaps in current designs and implementations and provide recommendations using research, experience, and expertise; 11. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry best practices; 12. Works with IT Manager to develop processes and procedures; 13.
