Information Technology Infrastructure Manager Department: Information Technology Job Title: Information Technology Infrastructure Manager FLSA Status: (Exempt/Non- exempt) Exempt Reports to: Director of Information Technology GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough is seeking an experienced and dynamic IT Infrastructure Manager to join our Technology team. As a key member of the technology department, the IT Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the district's network infrastructure, server environments, and enterprise systems. This role requires a high degree of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to supporting the district's educational mission through reliable and secure technology solutions. QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, CompTIA Network+) are strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in network and systems administration, preferably in a school district or educational environment. Technical Expertise: Proficiency in configuring and managing enterprise-grade network equipment (e.g., Cisco, HP, Ubiquiti, or similar). Experience with server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Strong knowledge of cloud services (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Azure) and identity management (Active Directory, LDAP, SAML). Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) and IT service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow). Experience with Proxmox, TrueNAS, and Netgate routers is highly desired. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in K-12 or higher education environments. Advanced certifications (e.g., CCNP, CISSP, Google Certified Administrator). Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices. Knowledge of VoIP systems, video conferencing solutions, and classroom technology. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO): Key Responsibilities Network Administration: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain a robust and secure district-wide network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and Wi-Fi networks. Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime. Implement network security protocols, firewall configurations, and access controls to safeguard district data. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly, collaborating with other technology staff as necessary. Systems Administration: Manage the district's server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers. Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management systems. Ensure regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and system redundancies to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity. Apply system patches, updates, and security configurations to maintain compliance with industry best practices. Cloud and Application Management: Oversee cloud-based solutions, such as Google Workspace for Education, Azure, or AWS, ensuring integration and security. Assist with managing interoperability of district-wide enterprise applications and services, such as student information systems (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), and database servers. Support single sign-on (SSO) and federated identity management services for staff and students. Technical Support and Collaboration: Provide tier-3 technical support and guidance to technical staff, school administrators, and educators. Collaborate with the technology team on district-wide initiatives, including technology planning, budgeting, and project management. Develop and maintain documentation of network configurations, system architecture, and standard operating procedures. Project Management and Strategic Planning: Lead technology infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, system migrations, and new technology implementations. Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for enhancements or new solutions to improve the district's technology capabilities. Assist in the development of technology policies, disaster recovery plans, and network security strategies. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Effective project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for afterschool, evening or weekend responsibilities. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the IT Manager is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. Staff may be required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. Staff is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building and go to multiple locations.
