Overview The Philadelphia office of Kaufman Dolowich, an AV-rated® firm designated one of the "Best Companies to Work For" among U.S. law firms by U.S. News & World Report, is seeking candidates for a Legal Assistant/Paralegal position. The Legal Assistant/Paralegal works directly with our attorneys to prepare for upcoming cases and gets involved in fact-finding projects. The individual manages attorney caseloads by being organized, professional, responsible, and committed to helping the Firm meet all our clients' needs. The candidate would be joining a growing, dynamic firm with more than 200 attorneys nationwide. Responsibilities and Duties: Collaborate with attorneys to prepare for trials, hearings, and meetings. Utilizes existing files and a variety of other research resources to develop information for pending cases. Drafts discovery demands and responses, including, but not limited to, Requests for Production, Interrogatories, Notices for Discovery and Inspection and Requests for Admissions. Processes deposition transcripts. Prepares trial and arbitration hearing binders. Assists with drafting documents such as: Motion to Strike, Motion for Continuances, Proposed Orders, Requests for Judicial Notice, Evidentiary Objections, etc. Assists with e-filing in State, Federal and Appellate Courts and checks the Court's local rules. Prepares timelines and demonstrative exhibits. Drafts routine legal correspondence. Prepares first set of exhibits for motions, discovery responses, etc. Reviews outgoing document production, including redacting and Bates stamping. Creates Preservation of Evidence Letter and Document Request Letters. Performs legal research via WestLaw. Assisting with office administration tasks. Reviews, summarize and analyze medical records to assist with defense of action. Other duties, as needed, to support the firm and office operations. Qualifications Previous law firm experience (4+ years). Litigation experience. Exceptional organization skills. Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize workload. Team oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of legal terminology and principles. Ability to analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion with limited guidance.
