The Manufacturing Engineer is a key contributor in assisting more experienced engineers in Tool design and development efforts. He/she assist in the design of automation and progressive tool and die equipment, and to handle manufacturing engineering functions and shop floor support requirements. Responsibility and Authority: Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Assure compliance to all required industry standards and government requirements as stated in the Ideal-Tridon Quality Manual, Quality Management System, process documentation and all Company Human Resources, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines to ensure customer requirements are met. Responsibility to design/order/build of automated and semi-automated processes to support the strategic manufacturing plan. Responsibility and authority to use Lock Out / Tag Out procedure to shut down an operation for quality, safety, or environmental issue. The appropriate supervisor, lead, or manager will be notified of shut down. Maintain and protect all company, supplier, and customer proprietary and confidential information. Essential Functions: Design of automation and progressive tool and die equipment of varying types for the use in the manufacture of clamping products. Require an adept capacity for learning to interpret data related to automation and progressive tool and die process design, including geometric dimension and tolerance requirements for tooling as needed. Utilize SolidWorks to develop conceptual drawings required to properly construct automation and/or stamping and progressive tool and die components. Create design of tools and components from sketches and verbal instruction. Utilize mechanical talent and ability to check engineering drawings to determine proper tolerancing fit, function, correctness and conformance to standards. Troubleshoot and solve production and various shop floor problems Become more capable to independently design components for automation or stamping tooling. Develop processes, methods, tooling and production controls for new programs and supervise their assembly and proofing. Re-design, repair of existing production equipment, equipment control hardware, and tooling. Develop processes, methods, tooling and equipment for new programs and supervise their assembly and proofing. Gain ability to set up new equipment, ensure its satisfactory operation and instruct others to use the new equipment properly. Write procedures for operating new or existing equipment. Successful completion of Lock Out / Tag Out training [EHS-20-0043]. Ensure compliance to the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System. Understand the process for containing nonconforming product and completing a RID. Perform other functions as required. Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience and education Prior related college intern or other related work experience is highly desired. Have work experience or schooling, training in appropriate engineering tools noted in the following: Computer skills, Solid Modeling, FMEA, CAD Strong communication and interpersonal organizational skills, self-motivated team player with shop-floor oriented mind-set. Physical Requirements: Position requires sitting, standing, walking, traveling and performing office and shop floor functions. Must have adequate eyesight to interpret mechanical drawings and the dexterity and capability to utilize computer equipment and provide presentation requirements. Will occasionally bend, stoop and lift objects weighing up 50 pounds. Maintain regular attendance and overtime requirements. Communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
