We are looking for dynamic and reliable individuals to work weekdays for a total of 20-26 hours a week. We are very flexible and work with student /parent schedules. SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT WHERE ALL TEAM MEMBERS THRIVE! POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a state licensed out-of-school time program operating full-day programs. It provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger, beginning with you. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervises a group of children. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values. Supports academic learning being done remotely by students (in pandemic time if applicable). Adheres to YMCA and state (Early Education & Care, EEC) standards including safety and cleanliness. Attending staff meetings and training. Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion. Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization. Follows YMCA and EEC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models' relationship-building skills in all interactions. Works at special events (i.e., Snow Day Program, Holiday Programs) and vacation week programs, if needed. Respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience working with children. Ability to provide direct care to school-age children while reinforcing health and safety guidelines. Ability to support children with their distance learning assignments being done remotely at the YMCA. Ability to guide structured Clubs and enrichment activities. Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization. Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed. Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and training within 30 days of hire date. EEC training/registration prior to hire date. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
