Job Description Job Summary: The retail dietitian implements wellness activities for ShopRite and provides guidance on nutrition issues to all areas of the store. Primary responsibilities include: planning and executing food and nutrition, wellness events (i.e. store tours, classes, community programs, etc.); delivering nutrition presentations; serving as a nutrition resource for customers and associates; and serving as a resource on issues related to nutrition, health and food safety. Essential Job Functions: The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language. Ability to perform basic math skills. Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift. Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs. Ability to work in varying temperatures. Ability to work with a wide variety of fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences. Ability to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties. Meet all work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies. Bachelor's degree with major in relevant field, such as nutrition, dietetics or food science, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association. Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association; Certification/Licensure as required by state of practice. Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements. Strong interpersonal and media skills. Knowledge of accurate science, trends and topics of internest to customer base. Ability to function independently and work without immediate supervision. Ability to generate ideas and think creatively. Ability to organize and prioritize work under pressure to meet deadlines. Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Skill in delivering presentations to small and large groups. Competence with nutrient analysis, work processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. Job Responsibilities: The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment. Maintain Department sanitation and QA standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils and equipment. Keep floor clear of debris and spills. Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance. Answer the telephone in a friendly and efficient manner. Knowledgeable of products carried in the department and store. Complete all applicable department training programs. Be knowledgeable in the company's HAZCOM program and adhere to manufacturer's label instructions for the safe and proper use of all chemical products. Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately. Adhere to all Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to registered dietitian operation. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all ShopRite Service Priorities. Understands demographics of customer base and tailors nutrition and health messages to satisfy customers' needs and interests. Plans and executes in-store wellness events and represents ShopRite at off-site health fairs and events. Coordinates and conducts store tours with emphasis on healthful eating and other needs (i.e. diabetes, weight management, child nutrition, etc.) Works with Wakefern to develop food and wellness promotion materials for store events, including healthy recipes, shopping lists and suggested menus. Writes food and nutrition features for company newsletter, in-store signage and promotional materials. Responds to customer questions and concerns related to nutrition and food safety. One-on-one nutrition consultations with customers. Cooking demonstrations in conjunction with the Culinary Workshop program (specifically Live Right Classes). Participates in planning and executing nutrition outreach in the community Fosters relationships with local business, schools and healthcare facilities to partner providing nutrition education both in and outside of the store. Monitors issues and trends relevant to food products. Represents company at professional meetings, conference and trade shows. NOTE: ASSOCIATES MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO OPERATE BAILERS, HI-LO'S, POWER JACKS AND SLICING MACHINES.
