LOCATION This position is base at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington , located 6121 Montrose Rd, Rockville, MD 20852. OUR DIRECTOR, CAMPUS SECURITY POSITION Reporting to the President/CEO, the Director, Campus Security is responsible for promoting the protection of the life and safety of residents, visitors and associates at the residences, buildings and grounds of Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC). The Director will serve as an expert security advisor, liaison, training coordinator to provide direction and maintain oversight for the development, organization, implementation and monitoring of CESLC's security operations and program; to include providing guidance and strategic direction to ensure the safety and security of the organization. The Director will serve as a liaison during crisis response and mitigation efforts, assisting local incident commanders and/or serve as an incident commander during crisis response and mitigation efforts if requested and/or required. The Director will coordinate with federal, state, local law enforcement and other stakeholders (as necessary), on safety and security matters. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct regular (Monday-Friday) patrols (on foot and in automobile) of the CESLC campus to monitor for security concerns and irregularities. Design, develop, implement and manage security policies, procedures and recommendations. Identify, manage and supervise qualified vendors to provide safety and security services (e.g., electronic and physical security) in alignment with security/threat assessments, operational capabilities, and organizational key results. Formulate annual budget and monitor and manage actual expenses to budget. Serve as point-of-contact for security concerns to federal, state and local law enforcement and emergency management agencies, as well as other stakeholder organizations (e.g., Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, Congregation B'nai Israel, Jewish campus organizations, etc.) Respond to onsite emergencies. Work collaboratively with other CESLC associates to identify and secure grant funding opportunities and awards for safety and security planning, training and enhancements. Manage CESLC's emergency communications systems (i.e., BluePoint, AMG Alerts®) to ensure timely notifications to appropriate audiences. Evaluate and manage critical resources needed for physical security (e.g., alarms/sensors, video surveillance, control systems, physical barriers, motion detectors, etc.) Plan, coordinate and conduct threat, security and resilience inspection/assessment activities, based upon industry standards, identifying vulnerabilities, and presenting recommendations to mitigate risk. (This includes working collaboratively with ElderSAFEâ„¢ Center to conduct lethality assessments prior to accepting clients to shelter). Prepare and issue reports and recommendations for key leadership, to include the President/CEO as well the CESLC Board of Governors. Conduct training activities and provide education to associates on security policies and best practices. Maintain security records, logs, and reports. SHIFTS & STATUS This is a FULL TIME Salaried position EDUCATION & TRAINING Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred. High school diploma required. A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in emergency management, security risk management, law enforcement, public safety administration, United States (or foreign) Armed Forces veteran (two years of active duty (minimum) and honorably discharged) or equivalent combination of professional work experience, training, and education. Valid firearms permit issued by the Maryland State Police Licensing Division. Ability to design, develop, implement, and deliver emergency operation plans, standard operating policies/procedures (SOPs), and training programs.
